Contrasting the dry, flat and beach resort laden south are the long stretches of deserted sandy beaches, abundant vegetation and traditional villages of the north. Wooded hillsides and the impressive Mount Teide, provide a picturesque backdrop to one of Tenerife’s top cultural destinations, La Orotava, the municipality to which Villa Preciosa belongs. Celebrating both past and present, La Orotava is a showcase of Canarian architecture and artisan tradition. Alexander von Humbolt, the German explorer and pioneer of modern ecology admired the Orotava Valley as the most beautiful place in the world.

While the municipality of La Orotava itself does not sit on the ocean, the district does extend to the coastline at one point, El Rincon, the nature-protected green zone, where real estate development is no longer permitted. Characterised by far-reaching plantations, concealed estate houses and coastal walking trails, the area is also home to El Bollullo, Los Patos and El Ancón, three secluded sandy coves enclosed by beautiful rock walls typical of the rugged northern coastline. All three beaches boast pristine black sand, characteristic of the volcanic landscape of the island. Villa Preciosa’s location here puts it in the privileged position of being completely detached from the city’s stresses, yet a stone’s throw away from all of its conveniences.

With a highway exit clearly marking El Rincon, finding the house is effortless. A map with comprehensive directions will be provided with your booking confirmation. Arrive through stretches of banana plantations, down a palm tree-lined street that appears to lead directly into the ocean. Enter the private gates, and find yourself enchanted by the sanctuary that awaits you.
